Shame & Blame
I learned a lot [from reading Denial] and gained an appreciation for the downstream effects of childhood sexual abuse. Thank you! Your book can be a powerful tool to heal so many who still live with shame and blame themselves.
Years ago I worked with an oncologist/friend who testified against a priest who had abused him as a young man. My friend underwent tremendous healing after he came to terms with what had happened, but he also suffered with intimacy issues and had a shyness that was at times debilitating.
I am glad he had the courage to confront the abuse, but I remember feeling so sad for all the time he lost keeping the secret.
